Morena Maoka is a Creative Director, storyteller, author and creative entrepreneur based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

His work sits at the intersection of creativity, storytelling, strategy and culture. As a Creative Director at Mann Made, he works across brands, campaigns, digital experiences and creative projects, turning ideas into work that connects with people.

Outside of client work, Morena is the founder of Lincoln’s Imagination, an independent creative and publishing venture built around his love for stories and imagination. Through Lincoln’s Imagination, he writes and publishes stories for children and young adults, while exploring ideas across books, digital experiences, film and other creative formats.

His writing journey began with the FunDza Literary Foundation, where his short stories Judgement Day, Normalisation and Salted were published. He also won two of FunDza's short story competitions and later collaborated with the organisation on another story.

His debut books include Diary of a Braamie and Papers vs. Digital, with Diary of a Braamie receiving recognition from the African Authors Awards and Emerge Africa Awards.

At the centre of everything he does is a belief in the power of imagination:

“We all possess a superpower, one that is often overlooked, yet without it, nothing would be. It's called imagination.”

For Morena, imagination isn't simply about dreaming up ideas. It's the starting point for creating them.

And, Morena Maoka was delighted too. He noted: “Having entered so many creative writing competitions and this being my first reward out of all of them, it really does mean a lot to have been selected as the runner- up. It means that I was a step away from taking the grand prize. It is a confidence booster for myself as an individual. It shows that I too have potential. Writing is a hobby which I enjoy a lot and after this I sure am going to write more often.”
